Description
Continental, 18th century, possibly earlier. A handcrafted round brass alms dish, likely Dutch or German, with wide rim and shallow basin, the central medallion with repousse decoration depicting St. George slaying a dragon, the scene with double repousse rings enclosing a band of embossed demilunes, with a band to exterior of second ring of indistinct embossed Latin text, the wide rim of dish with turned lip and embossed floral decoration. Unmarked. Approximately 1.625" tall, 14.625" diameter. Provenance: From the Estate of Henry G. Muecke Jr., Atlanta, Georgia.
