Description
Sitzendorf (German, founded 1760). A group of two 20th century hand painted porcelain figurines of French historic military men on horseback comprising of Jean-Baptiste Bessières, 1st Duc d' Istria (French, 1768-1813) depicted with sword in hand wearing red and green uniform; and "Garde Imperiale" depicting a French imperial guard wearing a white and blue uniform. Each figure on an integral naturalistic base with gilt accents and with impressed title to front of base. Each stamped to underside in blue "Germany" and with maker's mark in blue underglaze to back of base. Bessieres approximately 11" tall, 8" wide. Guard approximately 10.75" tall, 7.75" wide. Provenance: From the Estate of Henry G. Muecke Jr., Atlanta, Georgia.
