Partially gilded bronze, polychrome painting
China/Tibet, 19th/20th century
Detailed bronze figure of the female Bodhisattva
The White Tara is a symbol of compassion, peace and healing and is also known under the name Sitatara
Sitting in padmasana on a lotus base
The raised left hand shows the vitarka mudra and holds the stem of a lotus flower
The right hand shows the varada mudra
Backrest of the throne with five-leaved palm tree roof over her head of the goddess and different mystical creatures in openwork to her sides
Flanked by two worshippers
Height: 31 cm
Very good condition

Condition: The White Tara is in good condition with signs of age and wear. Two fingers of the left hand are missing. The gilding and painting shows some abrasion in places. The pedestal of the throne and the lotus base display some tiny holes. Overall with beautiful patina. The height measures 31 cm. (amb)
