RARE MIDDLE EASTERN TAPESTRY - Embroidered Mehrab, Persian, circa 1800, in silk and bullion thread, laid to canvas and mounted on a frame; 68 1/2" high x 45 1/2" wide; separation to silk cloth; from a private Maine collection. These were meant to replicate the niche in the wall of a Mosque that indicates the Qubla, or direction of the Kaaba in Mecca (providing one with the direction to face in prayer).
