Validation come from Mary Frank Gastons, The Collectors Encyclopedia of R.S. Prussia 2nd Series. Our exact jar can be seen on Page #100 / Plate 270, listed at over $300 25 years ago! Our Rare Tiffany finish treasure sits 9 X 6.5 inches in diameter x 5.25 inches tall, weighing 2# and is in spectacular condition. xxxxxxxxxxxx. The history of RS Prussia Porcelain dates back to 1869, with the opening of the Reinhold Schlegelmilch Porcelain factory in Tillowitz, Silesia, Germany, as well as a decorating studio in Suhl, Thuringia, Germany. The RS Prussia Wreath & Star mark was derived from its founder, Reinhold Schlegelmilch, and was later used by his sons Erhard and Arnold, after his passing. These two Reinhold facilities produced the finest and most innovative hard paste Art Nouveau porcelain in the world from the end of the Victorian era ca. 1892 up until the beginning of World War I. During the early part of this period, most of the pieces exported to the United States sported the ca. 1895 RS Steeple marks that were augmented in 1903 / 1904 by the red and green RS Prussia aforementioned Wreath & Star signature. However, history records that this mark only proliferated from the early 1900s to ca. 1914. In 1910, Reinhold’s Tillowitz factory reputedly changed exclusively to the Green RS Germany Wreath & Star, with Suhl maintaining the Red & green stamp to 1914, and after 1918, Tillowitz added other colors as well. The Tillowitz factory survived beyond 1915, the point at which the Suhl factory was forced to close forever as a causality of WW I. Both RS Steeple & RS Prussia marks paralleled the RS Germany Wreath & Star, and are recorded until 1914 / 1915. The RS Germany mark from the Tillowitz factory was seen until its last documented use in 1938.
