This hexagonal Delft fayence lidded vase dates to the 18th century. The ribbed walls show polychrome painted scenes in over- and underglaze colours depicting flowering branches with exotic birds on both sides. The towering lid features a figural finial shaped as a cat.
The lidded vase is in an appealing condition with signs of age and use. There are four restored parts at the neck and minor ships around the rims, as well as some loss to the paint. The cat’s ears and some of its tail have chipped off. The vase is marked underneath with ‘LF’ and a dot in iron red. The lidded vase is c. 37 cm in hight (with lid). (khe)
