57. Dog Day Cane-Ca. 1890-Fruitwood handle carved to depict a dog head with a pointed snout, two beautifully folding ears and a well-defined hairy coat. A pair of inset glass eyes lends the canine liveliness and vitality while an amazing silver basket muzzle attached to a beaded belt collar additional personality. The head is complimented by a plain silver collar and a dark red amber and ebony washer plinth and comes on a malacca shaft and a horn ferrule. Way out of the ordinary this cane is a superb example of enduring canine appeal and is praised by age and careful use.-H. 4” x 3”, O.L. 37 ¼”-$700-$900
