Item Details
Description
The following treasure is from the living estate of Ailene & Buddy Ford; noted dealers and lifelong collectors of exceptional antique & vintage heirlooms. Presented for your consideration this set of 3 Florence Figurines that includes, circa 1940's **** VIVIAN a fine example of the attention to detail that went into a Florence figurine. Vivian was inspired by Vivian Leigh in "Gone with Wind" and is dressed in a lovely rose dress with wide bell sleeves. She holds a petal shaped parasol with gold handle and trim. Her pink hat is made from tiny flowers (individually pressed through a mold) and ties with a decorated ivory ribbon. Her articulated fingers have rose nail polish that matches the color of her dress and she holds a gold trimmed lace purse. ***** ABIGAIL Her outfit is striking. She is all decked out in winter garb. The pretty dark sky blue tones give her a pretty feminine look. ***** MATILDA is one beautiful prim and proper lady with radiant red hair and dressed in a blue coat over a blue dress, with a white bonnet and a spaghetti art plume with gold gilt accents along with a spaghetti art muff gilt. ***** FLORENCE CERAMICS ***** Florence Ceramics was founded in 1949 in Pasadena, California by the very talented Florence Ward. She started producing fine ceramic figurines of fashionable ladies in her garage but soon moved to a larger factory due to the popularity of her work. She quickly became known for the intricate detail and fine craftsmanship. Her work was never sold directly to the public but rather to department stores, floral shops, and wholesalers. *** Total Weight : 3# 4 oz. *** Measurements : Vivian measured for reference - 7.75 x 7 x 10" tall
