Take a look at this exquisite Stering Silver Chainmail purse! We are dating this purse c. 1915 to 1920. It is marked Sterling with hallmarks and the numbers 736?. The purse is an elegant chainmail pointed bag on an engraved frame with horseshoe design. The button closure (closes nicely not super tight) has a lovely oval turquoise cabochon button that goes into an engraved teardrop with a braided design. The frame hangs from a braided sterling silver folded over handle with an engraved end clamp/band. The purse is further accented with a fantastic tassel of serpentine chains hanging from a rounded bell. The purse handle is about 6 inches long - from the top of the closure to the pointed end of the bag is about 8.5 inches long and the tassel is a little over an inch long for an overall length of 16 inches. It weighs 108 grams. This outstanding sterling silver purse is from the living estate of Ailene & Buddy Ford; noted dealers and lifelong collectors of valuable antique & vintage heirlooms.
