WE SHIP! The AEAA is exceptionally proud to showcase this incredible vintage Hummel (Goebel) triple figurine, in the form of mammoth & highly valuable 1972-1978, 10 inch tall 170/111, TMK School Boys. Originally modeled in 1942 by master sculptor Reinhold Unger, and later in 1961 by master sculptor Gerhard Skrobek, Our valuable trio is in splendid condition, standing 8 x 4.5 x 10 inches tall, weighing 2# 8 oz. The current book value of this treasure is $2,800-$2,850, and our estimate is only 33% of this jewel for any collection. Our fantastic heirloom is from the living estate of Ailene & Buddy Ford, respected, longtime dealers of valuable antiques. ********************************************************************** Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel and the Convent of Siessen, and the Goebel exclusive relationship began in 1934 when the endearing drawings of the talented Franciscan nun came to the attention of Bavarian porcelain manufacturer Franz Goebel. He proposed to the Convent and to Sister Maria Innocentia that her artwork be translated into three-dimensional form. The first figurines were introduced in 1935. M.I. Hummel figurines were originally based on the artwork of Sister M.I. Hummel who loved children. Most of her artwork is comprised of only children, although she did draw many inspirational and religious works of art as well. Since many of her drawings were in black and white and only depicted the front of her subjects, the collection was expanded to include interpretive figurines. Interpretive figurines, like all M.I. Hummel figurines, must be of a child or children and include subject matter that Sister Maria Innocentia would have seen in Bavaria, Germany, circa the 1930s. Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel passed in 1946 from tuberculosis, at the tender young age of 37.
