WE SHIP **** The AEAA is exceptionally pleased to present this lot that represents a Gilbert Miniature China Clock , Case is predominately a rose red, gold highlights and hand painted flowers. The flowers appear on the front under the dial, on the top and both sides. Flowers are life-like and realistic. The back of the case is marked "Tulip", this clock has a 1960's replacement mechanism Mercedes / German back-wind. Not running. Circa early 1900's. ***Weight: 1# 12 oz. - Measurements: 5.5 x 2.75 x 6" tall ** ********************************************************************************************** William L. Gilbert was one of the foremost clock-makers of 19th-century Connecticut, a state that gave the world Eli Terry, Seth Thomas, Chauncey and Noble Jerome, Joseph Ives, and Elias Ingraham. Gilbert’s first company was founded in 1828 in partnership with his brother-in-law, George Marsh. A decade later, Gilbert was in business with Chauncey Jerome himself, whose brass movements formed the heart of Gilbert’s new mantel clocks with ogee-style cases.
