A reverse-painted print on glass depicting the radical MP Sir Francis Burdett with Britannia, circa 1810, titled recto The Genius of Brittain (sic) appointing Sir Francis Burdett, to protect the Rights of Englishmen. , 28cm x 38cm, in a rosewood veneered frame Sir Francis Burdett Bt. (1770-1844) was a reformist politian often at odds with parliament over reform issues such as Catholic Emancipation, popular rights, the war with France, prison reform, Commons reform and corporal punishment within the Army and Navy. He was also on occasion gaolled by Parliament.
