Item Details
Description
Antique Hampshire Art Pottery vases with surround of leaf blades alternating with buds covered in an organic green Grueby-like matte green glaze and Mottled Blue glaze. Each measure 7.5". Incised “Hampshire” and both having the Emoretta mark on the bottom. Very good original condition. Hampshire pottery was made in Keene, New Hampshire, between 1871 and 1923. Hampshire developed a line of colored glazed wares as early as 1883. Grueby Faience Company is often credited with developing the popular matte green glaze in 1887, Hampshire was actually the first to produce it in 1883. Designed by Cadmon Robertson, his artist mark (M in a circle which is tribute to his wife, Emoretta) circa 1904
