All original advertising egg carrier, dated 1897, in red paint with 4 stenciled sides, complete with locking lid and bail handle, manufactured and distributed by the Reliable Incubator & Brooder Co., Quincy Illinois (signed), patented in 1897. The company sold their egg carriers to mercantile and general stores around the country and placed the advertisements of the stores on the sides of the boxes. This egg carrier advertises on all four of its sides - 3 with "Free to Our Customers Freeman Universal Provider Cooperstown NY", other side "Reliable Egg Carrier Manufactured by the Reliable Incubator & Brooder Co. Quincy Ill, 1897, 13 1/2" W x 12 1/4" D x 11" H. Condition - good, red paint and black lettering are dry and untouched, two sides with faded stenciling but readable, some paint wear, lacking wire to lock lid.
