A.L.S., Grover Cleveland, one page, 4to, New York, 13th September 1889, to Dr. Edward C. Mann, on his firm´s letterhead. Cleveland acknowledges his correspondent´s letter asking for a lecture `..under the auspices of the New York Academy of Anthropology..´, further regretting he cannot comply with the request, `I am not unmindful of the importance of the Academy´s work….but having again entered upon the practice of the law it will be impossible for me to do my duty to others and myself...´ With mounting remnants to the verso and few creases, otherwise VG £100-150
