Description
Mayan, pre-Columbian, ca. 100 CE. These greenstone beads are in different sizes and shades, but come strung and ready to be worn. Greenstone beads had an important ritual symbolism in Mayan society and were often used in ceremonial contexts; many burials also have greenstone beads as grave goods. Length of string: 8" in diameter; beads are all different sizes, but generally cylindrical.
