Description
Early cooking/heating or apothecary pot. Thick cast iron. Raised on three legs. Marked on the side. Dates back to the 17th or early 18th century, Dutch or British. Please, notice its small size and the almost round shape, as the later ones (from the late 18th through the 19th century) are considerably larger and compressed in shape. Measurements: Approx. 7" tall (18 cm); 7" handle to handle; Weighs close to 4 pounds (1.80 kg)
Condition
Wear and signs of use, commensurate with age. Wonderful deep, multi-layered patina, developed over centuries. One of the legs has a deformity, from the primitive manner of casting; Another leg was even cast a bit shorter or became so over the years of use
