Description
After Paul Delaroche (French, 1797-1856). Continental, 19th century. Pair of companion miniature portraits comprising of bust length portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte depicting the historical figure in profile with head turned in green, red and white military jacket, signed at right "n. Delaroche"; and a bust length portrait of Napoleon I's wife, Joséphine de Beauharnais in a white gown with lace vail behind jeweled crown, indistinguishably signed at right. Each oval diminutive portrait contained in matching elongated octagonal frames with wood veneered borders. Each overall measures approximately 5.3" x 4.6". Oval portrait approximately 3.25" x 2.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
