Description
Ancient Near East, Northeastern Iran, Parthian Empire, ca. 2nd century CE. Cast bronze rendering of a priestess wearing an attribute headpiece, chiton and necklace. She holds a wreath in her left hand and raises her right. She stands upon an integrally cast tripodal platform. She has a very expressive visage and a rich patina! A rare type, apparently unpublished, most probably of eastern Mediterranean origin. Size: 11-1/8" H.
