William IV Carved, Ebonized and Giltwood Specimen Marble-Top Center Table, mid-19th century, the circular marble top banded and centered by a malachite chess board within a field of various pebble-form marbles, raised on a fluted and egg-and-dart-molded standard to three legs headed by ram's heads and ending in foliate feet, the base with gilt accents, h. 31", dia. 30".
Condition
Tight, solid and stable. The polished top is in very good condition. There are a handful of cracked stone elements, all tightly affixed. The base exhibits some rubbing, mars and wear consistent with age and use. Both the gilding and the ebonizing have been refreshed. There are abrasions/finish losses at the feet, and an outer "toe" missing from each of two feet.
