POSSIBLY AMERICAN POTTERY PAIR OF JAPANESQUE MOON FLASK VASES, of typical form, with flaring, everted mouths, on oval feet, each painted with birds in cartouches, flowering cherry or plum blossoms, and clematis, the backs with blossoms on branches. Unmarked. Circa 1900. 12 1/2" H.
Catalogue Note: Possibly purchased in the white and amateur-painted, these crackle-glazed cream-colored earthenware vases are decorated over the glaze.

Condition
Good condition, in both vases some of the crazing has turned into a hairline, one to the rim and foot, and the other to the side panels. Minor wear to gilding and enamels to one, the other has more gilding loss.
