Description
Two prints by Utagawa Kunisada II (1823-1880) including "Takegawa", chapter 44 from "Fifty-four chapters of False Genji", signed on main image and fan inset with censor seal, originally published by Tsutaya Kichizo, 1864-1865; and, actors Kichiroku and Ichimura Kakitsu from a triptych, signed with censor seal and publisher's mark of Iseya Tetsujiro. Together with Toyohara Kunichika (1835-1990), "Actor Ichimura Uzaemon XI as Gonpachi Shirai", signed with one censor seal and publisher's mark Izutsu-ya Shokichi. Largest 36.7 x 24.6cm(14.5 x 9 3/4 in.)
Condition
Toning and creasing to all. "Takegawa" has some ink rubbings to upper left corner. " Gonpachi Shirai" has tear and wormage to right side. Print of two actors measures 36.3 x 24.6cm (14 38 x 9 3/4 in.), " Gonpachi Shirai" measures 35.8 x 25 cm
