Rock A Bye Doll Automaton, from 1902
Scarce American mechanical toy depicting a mother rocking her baby, with German bisque head impressed "192, 5/0", open mouth, weighted brown glass eyes, five-piece composition body with molded shoes, original blonde mohair wig and probably original dotted tan dress, figure supported by brass clips mounted on two pegs and a wire loop in her right hand that attaches to pivoting white-painted cradle, the open-spring motor causing cradle to move to and fro with the illusion that the mother is rocking it herself! In the cradle lies an all-bisque baby with mohair wig, molded yellow boots and lace-edged chemise, on oak base ink-stamped "Rock A Bye Doll, Patented Apr. 8 1902", height 12 ¾ in. (32 cm), with steel key, paint wear on cradle but overall good original working condition.

Seltenes amerikanisches Spielzeug. Eine Puppenmutter schaukelt ihr Baby. Deutscher Biskuitporzellan-Kopf, geprägt "192, 5/0", offener Mund, braune Schlafaugen aus Glas, 5-teiliger Masse-Körper, mit modellierten Schuhen, blonder Original-Mohairperücke, gepunktetem gelbbraunem Kleid (vermutlich Original). Die Puppe ist mit 2 Messingklammern auf dem Holzsockel befestigt, die rechte Hand am Pfosten der Wiege. Das Federwerk bewegt die Wiege vor und zurück, als würde die Puppenmutter dies tun. In der Wiege liegt ein Puppenkind mit Porzellan-Körper, Mohairperücke, modellierten gelben Schuhen und Nachthemd mit Spitzenbesatz. Holzsockel gestempelt "Rock A Bye Doll, Patented Apr. 8 1902", Gesamthöhe 32 cm. Mit Stahl-Schlüssel. Farbe der Wiege teilweise abgeblättert, ansonsten guter und funktionstüchtiger Originalzustand.
