Description
Deeply carved Newcomb College mat glaze scenic vase done in 1925 by Anna Frances Simpson. Pictured are tall cypress trees loaded with Spanish moss through which we think we see a tiny piece of a full moon. Marks include the Newcomb logo, impressed date code for 1925 (OP 52), impressed JM for potter Joseph Meyer, shape number 250 and the incised monogram of the artist. Also present is an original Newcomb Pottery paper label on which is written the date code, the title Cypress and price of $12. Height 8 1/8 inches. There is a professional restoration to a line at the rim which extends down the side about 4 inches.
