Description
13th century AD. A silver penannular bracelet made from three interwoven wires held in place by a further thin twisted wire, creating a decorative wave effect, triangular in cross-section; the flat triangular terminals each decorated with eleven bosses and double rope twisted border. See silver treasure from the village of Baniska, in the Rouse Regional Museum of History; accompanied by a print-out with photographs of the treasure. 35 grams, 76mm (3"). Property of an English gentleman; acquired London, 1980s, from Norway by repute. Five similar bracelets, five rings, two earrings and a necklace were discovered in the area of a medieval fortress near the village of Baniska, Bulgaria.
