Description
Hanover, circa 1820
Slightly curved blade à la Montmorency, etched, blued, gilded, and bearing the inscription "Glück Auf" ("Good luck on the way up" - traditional miner's greeting) on both sides. Finely engraved gilded, brass hilt with a two-piece grip cover of walrus ivory. Guard plate with a silver overlay of miners' tools. Leather scabbard with gilded brass furniture. Attached sword knot of golden cord interwoven with black. Length 94 cm.
