Description
Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 11th to 12th Dynasty, ca. 2040 to 1802 BCE. Attractive polychrome wooden figure of a boatman. Shown kneeling he would have served as one of the rowers. Arms pegged into carved body that was then covered in thin gesso and painted red, black, tan and white. Size: 5"H (11cm). Custom base.
Provenance: Ex- S. Florida collection acquired before 1983.
