Description
A GEORGE III MAHOGANY CARD TABLE, CIRCA 1765, in the manner of Thomas Chippendale (English 1718-1779), the hinged rectangular top with a continuous flower head carved edge and green baize lined playing surface, above a blind fretwork embellished frieze concealing a small tray drawer, with hand constructed dovetail joinery and the caddy's underside marked "MS/77" in white, with chamfered square supports ornamented by beading and pierced openwork spandrels, the rear left leg hinged to accommodate the open top. Provenance: Estate of the Late James K. Schooler, Esq. Purchased from Thorpe & Foster, Dorking, Surrey, 22 October 1985, and accompanied by original sales receipt. Height: 29" Width: 34" Depth: 34"
