This boat model was thought to have been a factory-made display model for a Chris-Craft showroom. The quality of construction suggests that this could have been the case as the attention to detail and craftsmanship most certainly would support that possibility. But our research found that the styling, rather than being of a particular model borrows from various triple-cockpit Chris-Craft runabouts primarily dating to the 1930's. Whatever the derivation, it is a beautifully constructed model from the machined brass bound prow to the rounded stern. Details include fully upholstered cockpits, opening hatch covers revealing a dummy 8 cylinder motor, and brass fittings through out. Note particularly the stylized brass framed windshield and and matching spray deflector side windows for the cockpits (one rear window missing). With its finely varnished hull and planked decking this striking boat is showroom worthy. The original display stand shows the same level of craftsmanship as the boat it cradles.
