Description
GE Financial Services 1989 annual report.Company:
GE Capital is the financial services unit of the American conglomerate General Electric. It provides commercial lending and leasing, as well as a range of financial services for health care, media, communications, entertainment, consumers, real estate, and aviation. It has a number of divisions, including GE Real Estate, GE Capital Aviation Services, GE Energy Financial Services and GE Commercial Lending & Leasing. GE Capital focuses primarily on loans and leases that it underwrites to hold on its own balance sheet rather than on generating fees by originating loans and leases, then selling them to third parties. Most of GE Capital's commercial loans are to small and mid-sized companies, spread across multiple industries and geographies and secured by tangible assets. More than 70% of GE Capital’s loans are under $100 million. GE Capital's consumer lending activities are also diversified by product and geography and include operations in 55 countries. Background:
An annual report is a comprehensive report on a company's activities throughout the preceding year. Annual reports are intended to give shareholders and other interested people information about the company's activities and financial performance. Most jurisdictions require companies to prepare and disclose annual reports, and many require the annual report to be filed at the company's registry. Companies listed on a stock exchange are also required to report at more frequent intervals (depending upon the rules of the stock exchange involved).

The details provided in the report are of use to investors to understand the company's financial position and future direction.

Annual reports became important expressions of corporate culture, image and philosophy. Graphic design firms engaged renowned illustrators & photographers to help visualize and create these corporate messages with a sense of design and artistry.

In the early 2000s this printed art expression form was lost to the paperless age of the internet.

Featured Video:Annual Report Grading System:
Mint - A report that is new. The paper cover will be crisp and colors bright without tears or marks; the edges and spine will be clean, straight with no bends and pages will be clean and crisp. No signs of shelf wear.

Very Good - a report that is close to being new-like but has a few blemishes. Normal shelf wear will reduce a report from truly new-like appearance but will still be a fine report to read and retain. Overall, report has minor blemishes such as small tears.

Good - A report shows wear (and maybe tears). There may be markings, damage to a few pages, or very soiled cover. Overall, the report is still a good a read.

Fair - the report is all there, but there may be marks on the cover or inside pages, pages have been underlined in ink, or the soft cover has been significantly torn. "Fair" books frequently have been heavily used. A report with water damage on numerous pages is generally classified as fair. Fair quality reports can be a great bargain.

Poor - generally means the report is not really in readable condition - pages may be loose or missing, cover severally damaged. These reports often are purchased for re-purposing such as covers for new paper journals, pictures and illustrations for art projects.
