A self-taught artist, Talmadge settled in Juneau in 1976. He has painted and drawn most of his life, but became interested in sculpture after pursuing a hobby in taxidermy. Influenced early-on by John Audubon's birds, Talmadge had his first gallery showing in 1981. Since then he has had several showings and many of his works, both public and private, are found throughout the Northwest. His mediums are mostly soapstone, alabaster, marble and, most recently, bronze.''
