"A. Kanoge, Brahmun". Etching and colors. 1799. For the artist's 1799 publication "A Collection of 250 Coloured Etchings: Descriptive of the Manners, Customs, & Dresses of the Hindoos". Solvins was a Flemish painter who traveled to Calcutta in 1791. He is considered a pioneer in print making in India. He created a visual portrait of Calcutta in the late 18th century by producing 250 etchings from watercolor paintings he executed of places, individual portraits, and daily life. Size 16" x 12".
