Description
A Fine Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Baluster Vase 17''x7''. Unusual molded geometric ground with polychrome enameled Ming style geometric dragons around shoulder. It has four medallions of various scholars with attendants in lush landscapes around the body. Relief outlined lotus petal neck with gold gilt key design. It bears a red enameled Qianlong seal mark and is possibly of the period. Stylistically it looks more like a Jiaqing (1796-1820) piece. Drilled base, but excellent condition otherwise. 18th to 19th century, Qing dynasty. Provenance: Estate of Robert Marcel Caudron, former post master in Shanghai China during the 1920's.
