Page removed from a copy of the "Nuremberg Chronicle", 12 1/4" x 17 1/2", (c. 1493), the most heavily illustrated book produced in the 15th century. The book is an illustrated history of the world, which presents a timeline of biblical history, as well as the then-present age. It includes maps of the known world and cities such as Venice, Constantinople, and Nuremberg, as well as biblical genealogies, battles, kings, and natural scenes. This particular page is a genealogy, with each figure individually hand-colored. Damp staining at bottom margin, chip on bottom left corner and left edge, else good.
