DAVID BERKOWITZ
(b. 1953) Mass murderer who called himself the "Son of Sam", terrorized New York City in the Seventies killing six under orders from a neighbor's dog. A.L.S. "David", 1p. 4to., Sullivan Correctional Facility, Feb. 26, 1992 to a lady. In part: "...I just got back from chapel and it's close top 11 o'clock..." He thanks her for a book, and mentions a religious tract he had written: "...I'm glad you like the tract outline. I just wrote to Don to have him send you a handful... Meanwhile I am enclosing his last letter to me... so you could get a feel for his ministry..Love ya...". Also present: a T.L. (unsigned) with holograph notation and annotated photos of his grandparents, 2pp. 4to., [n.p.], May 17, 1993 to the same woman. In part: "...I will certainly tell Don... His newsletters are banned from this place... he is placing me in a precarious position... This clip on the 'Satanic Cult' killings in Brazil is something... the devil is getting more brazen and his servants don't even bother to hide the sacrificed body..I'll have to get the 'Cults That Kill' book out of our library... I read it several years ago...". With transmittal envelopes.
