The model 250 SE Coupe from the type series M129 with 150 hp was introduced on the market in 1965. They had, just like the three liter models, 14 inch wheels and the larger disc brake from the luxury class series 108, now also on the rear wheels. In 1967 Mercedes introduced the new 2.8 liter. engine Mercedes-Benz M 130 with 160 hp. Accordingly the new W111/C was named 280 SE Coupe. Some modifications were also made inside.
The dash panel, which used to be veneered, was coated with leather. As of 1969 the W111 had a facelift upon the introduction of the 3.5 liter V8 engine with 200 hp, which meant that the front part had a flatter hood and a lower radiator grill. Accordingly, models were (unofficially) named “Hochkhler“ and “Flachkhler“ (high- and flat radiator). The convertible 280 SE 3.5 with the eight cylinder engine M116 is a very popular car from this type series
This Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Coupe has an electric steel sliding roof, as well as a floor shift mechanism and is particularly convincing for its classic color combination of an ivory finish and red leather inside. Additionally, the car has a radio and comes from first hand ownership.
