Churchill ) to Mrs Williams thanking the recipient for their kind letter about Lord Cherwell expressing appreciation for her thoughts, one page, on Chartwell headed paper, horizontal mailing fold, 8vo , Chartwell, Kent, 6 July 1957 -- Frederick Lindemann, 1st Viscount Cherwell, was a scientific advisor to the British Government during the Second World War and remained a close friend to Winston Churchill for the rest of his life. He died aged 71 on 3rd July 1957.
