Description

Pair of Chinese Cloisonné Dragon Shaped Candlesticks, Early 20th Century.
The two dragon shaped candlesticks have blue and gold colored cloisonné cloud patterns on the dragon bodies with gold colored tails. Each dragon's tail is curled and its head is turned back; looking up. Each mouth has an insert, depicting smoke and fire. Above this sits a red and gold ball, which appears to be balanced on the flames. Each ball opens to reveal a pin, and if inverted into the lower half of the ball, forms a candle holder. The dragons stand upon four legs each; their feet feature 5 claws: four claws facing forward and one claw facing backward. The candlesticks are approximately 13 3/8 inches high X 11 1/8 inches long. Condition: They are in good condition. Provenance: From a California estate.
