One Box Containing 50 Glass Photograph Negatives, Circa (1887-1890).
The wooden box contains 50 glass black and white plate negatives made circa 1887-1890 in the County of Surrey, England. The negatives measure 4 inches high by 6 inches wide. The photographs were taken in Guildford, Shalford, Byfleet, and along the River Wey. The subject matter is varied: people, buildings, countryside and river scenes--many buildings are identifiable and still in existence. It is thought that the photos were produced by photographer E. W. Parton. The plates are housed in a specially made wooden box which includes an incomplete index. Additionally, this lot includes a bag containing prints of the negatives.
