Silver Hanukkah Lamp Menorah, Johann Jacob Loschhorn, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Circa 1770, Judaica.
The backplate with crowned cartouche chased with a Menorah, flanked by lions, the hinged cover is engraved with lozengework.
Armrest shaped banister to each side.
On four lion shaped feet.
Marked with maker's mark and city mark on backplate, inside base compartment and on cover.
Later servant light.
Height: 19.5cm / 7.67in.
Length: 20cm / 7.87in.
Weight: 432gr / 13.88oz.
A similar Menorah by this maker was sold in Sotheby's New York, Judaica Sale - 19 December 2007, Lot #35.
Hanukkah lamp by this maker is in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem (see Scheffler, Goldschmiede Hessens, p. 312).
