DESCRIPTION: Two local Pennsylvania Imprints. Includes: 1) The Communicant's Companion; or, Instructions and Helps for The Rights Receiving of the Lord's Supper. By Matthew Henry, Late Minister of the Gospel. Published by James Galbraith, Shippensburg, 1835. Stereotyped by H. Simmons & cc. 224 pages. 7-1/8" x 4-1/2". Book bound in sheep, with unusual layout of spine label and gold tooling design. Expected wear to leather for age, with bumped corners. Leather endcap at head missing. Front board slightly detached at tail, but textblock tight, with original leather endbands intact. Pages show heavy, uniform foxing. 2) Recollections of College Life, at Marshall college, Mercersburg, Pa., From 1839 to 1845: A Narrative, with Reflections. By Rev. Theodore Appel, D.D., Lancaster, PA. Published by Daniel Miller, Printer and Publisher, Reading, PA: 1886. Dark green cloth with gilt lettering on front board and spine. 348 pages and includes Table of Contents. In 1853, the Institution merged with Franklin College in Lancaster, PA to form Franklin and Marshall College. 7-3/4" x 5-1/4". Title page slightly torn at tail end.
