Description
Plate CCLXXI from John James Audubon's Birds of America, an engraving with etching, aquatint and hand-coloring, circa 1835, on paper with J Whatman watermark. Measures 38 1/8 inches tall and the measurement of width at the top is 25 1/4 inches while the measurement of the width lower down near the bottom varies to 25-3/8 inches wide.
Condition
Excellent restored condition. Clean throughout, no damage or repair, no staining or discoloration. A 1-inch tear at the extreme bottom edge extends from sheet edge 1 inch upward at a position 2.5 inches to the left of the title below the image. The complete conservation report from Heugh-Edmondson Conservation Services will be included.
