Salesman's sample is also hard bound, with original red ribbon across interior of front cover, ribbon reading "The Negro A Beast" or "In The Image of God." The salesman's sample asks provocative questions, e.g., "Is the Negro Your King?' "Does Nature Blunder?" It has an illustration "The Beast and the Virgin," depicting a white woman in wedding gown and a black man in tux. Caption "Can you find a white preacher who would unite in holy wedlock, a burly Negro to a white lady? Ah! parents, you would rather see your daughter burned, and her ashes scattered to the winds of heaven." Extremely rare and difficult subject matter. Condition of both books - discoloration and wear to corners of spines. Exterior rear covers stained. Otherwise, very good and tight condition.
