Ducks
Ducks are a popular and frequently recurring symbol in China, dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC.-220 AD).). Ducks paired with lotus are a symbol of a harmonious conjugal relationship. Mandarin ducks with peony blossoms symbolize the wish for a successful marriage. The character of the word ‘duck’ can also be translated with ‘first’, or ‘a pair of ducks’ with ‘second’, which often symbolizes the rank of officials.
