Description
This vintage cabinet is painted in brilliant colors. The top section is two open niches for the display of bronze Buddhist deities. The image on both doors directly below is the bird diety Garuda. He has the head and wings of an eagle and sometimes the rest of his body is human. Garuda carries a platter of flaming pearls. The other paintings are related to Tantric Buddhism which is the religion of the Tibetan people. Colorful moldings frame this cabinet. The material is pine, a sturdy wood. It is difficult to ascertain the age of Tibetan cabinets. A 20 century date is appropriate. Dimensions are 27 inches wide, 19 inches deep and 58 inches high.
Condition
Wear and tear on the painted lacquer images and shrinkage of the wood are quite evident in the surfaces of the cabinet.
