Description
After Paul Klee (Swiss/German, 1879-1940), "Der Paukenspieler (The Drummer Boy), wool rug, label on verso from manufacturer Axminster, West Germany and retailer Montgomery Ward, textile produced in a limited edition of 2500-- noted as 2319 of 2500. 100% wool rug (now hanging tapestry) created in 1971 after the modern artist's 1940 painting currently housed in the Klee Collection at the Berner Kunstmuseum in Berne, Switzerland. Vertically aligned textile depicting an abstracted figure in black with single eye and arms moving in drumming motion against tan ground accented in red, signature within matrix upper left corner. Unframed (but mounted for hanging on rod) approximately 57" x 29.5".
