Description
Pierre Bonnard (French, 1867-1947). "La Rue Molitor" - c.1925, lithograph on wove paper, second (final) state, limited edition 17/50, published by Edmond Frapier, signed within matrix lower left, pencil numbered lower left margin, pencil signed lower right margin over publisher's blind stamp. Genre scene lithograph print in black depicting a street corner in France as seen from an upward angle with a cafe situated on the corner at right behind curving sidewalk with large leafy tree to center and tall dark tree trunk to left, with people and dogs to the sidewalk. Framed approximately 23.625" x 16.875". Sheet size approximately 19.5" x 12.875". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia. Note: this work exists in two states, the first state bearing an edition of only 5 artist proofs and the second state bearing an edition of 50 signed prints. Reference: Bouvet pg. 245, ill. 100.
