Porcelain Manufacture Höchst – est. in 1746
The second eldest porcelain manufacture of Germany was founded in 1746 by Johann Christoph Göltz and Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck. As manufacture mark the so-called wheel of Mainz was chosen. Between 1746 and 1754, initially only faience were produced. Under Johan Kilian Benckgraff and the stove-builder Josef Ringler starts, with strong orientation to Meissen, the production of porcelain. After internal problems, and the intermediate conversion into a public limited company, the manufacture had to file for bankruptcy in 1796. The operation of the Porcelain Manufacture was revived again between 1947 and 2013. (bde)
