Description
English, 1895. A late nineteenth-century English mahogany lap desk on stand, the lid decorated with four curved ovolo-edged brass mounts at each edge, brass banding, and central plaque with cavetto corners with engraved inscription reading "F. Cox/ 1st L.B.V./Won By T. Lockhead 1895", opening to black leather-lined desk top interior with compartments for writing utensils and ink well, secret drawer compartment with three small drawers, joined by brass joints at edges, over stand with square legs and pierced openwork carving at coved corners. Approximate height of lap desk 7", width 17.5", depth 10", approximate height of stand 16.5", width 18.5", depth 10.5".
