Description

An unusual design in this K-100 Adlake Lantern. It is a transition from 5 3/8" tall globes and the 3" Kero later frames. The basic frame is the size of a tall globe and an extra long retaining spring cup allows for a shorter than normal globe. I would guess that there were thousands of Reliable cages at the Adlake factory so somebody came up with this scheme to use the older parts on hand and a few railroad suckered into the scheme. The NYC, CofG, B&A, and a few others ordered these odd-balls. The design is so poor they have to cast the name TOP into the globe so that employees could figure it out. This frame si in good shape with nice tin and markings. The pot is different than some. The globe has to be this 4" tall #100 style or it just won't fit. There is a Corning mark on the globe but no railroad name.
